A Barrel Full of Beer Memes, #3
"I Once Got Busy with an A-B Salesgirl"
It's been a while since I've passed a "beer meme" around to you. This one came to me the other day when I heard the lyrics "...I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom..." You remember that song, I know you do...go ahead it's okay, you can admit it!
It reminded me of one of craft brewing's "rock stars" (so to speak---pun somewhat intended), Sam Calagione. He and his longtime brewer Bryan Selders mashed in and mixed up some beats as the duo called Pain Relievaz. And one of their songs/raps?
"A-B Salesgirl" from 2004's just-missed-platinum Check Your Gravity.
I transcribed some of the lyrics below for your enjoyment (couldn't find any trace of YouTube, Vimeo, or the likes to share video with you). If you need more, you can check out Let's Play Twister (down in Dewey), What Would Alan Pugsley Do?, and Brewer's Bling Bling.
"I tried to explain it, she just looked surprised as if her brain cells had been pasteurized"
"I've been rockin' fat beats since the boys at Mendocino were selling all their ales from a Chevy El Camino"
"I said what do you want, she said a Budweiser; girl you must be on more drugs than my homies down at Phizer"
"I said I'll show you dirty, slammed down the money took her to my crib we hottubbed in my undies. Feeling pretty fly, I had no sense of danger, so I stuck my brewers hose inside her heat exchanger"
"I said I'll be your man, but I'll never be your hubby so I started buffing out her ass with a green scrubby. She tossed back her hair, fell into a frenzy, started barking out my name like she was Spuds McKenzie"
That'll be the only time the name Spuds McKenzie will show on this website, I think it's pretty safe to say.

A Barrel Full of Beer Memes, #2
If you've ever been to a Cricket Hill Friday night open house or run into Rick Reed at a beer festival then you're likely familiar with "THEY ARE LYING TO US!" or "THE NUMBER ONE SELLING WATER IN NEW JERSEY IS COORS LIGHT!" typically said with that kind of volume by Mr. Reed himself.
Anyone ever stopping by a Cricket Hill table at a beer festival is sure to have heard others talking about the now legendary rants of Rick Reed, owner/brewmaster at Cricket Hill Brewery in Fairfield, NJ.
Over a year ago, video surfaced on YouTube (of course) capturing one these rants during a Friday Night Open House and Tasting.
From "Cricket Hill is the finest beer made on the planet earth" to "Drink what you want, not what you're told to drink" and ratcheting up to "You have been brainwashed since you were children" and "They think we are stupid", it's easy to see how quickly this viral video made it around the Internet and into Beer Meme status. And, remember, "They tell us that it's been frost-brewed; It means NOTHING!!"
So, without further ado, here it is in all of its bellowing awesomeness!

A Barrel Full of Beer Memes, #1
Meme...no not the restaurant in Philadelphia..but, it would be a nice segue to remind you of the homebrewing event that they have coming up in July, now would it not?
No, a meme...like a cultural touchpoint...that manifests itself in a thing, a period, an occurrence, a phenomenon. Something that replicates and spreads itself through the collective consciousness. (Or at least that's how I think of it...try dictionary.com, if you'd prefer.)
With Better Beer permeating many heretofore never seen from nor heard from cracks of society, The Best (and Worst) of the Beer World is on display through the first Beer Meme that I'll highlight here (lowlight?)
No doubt, if you follow state legislation around the country (yes, Pennsylvania...there are worse states for the making, buying, and selling of beer), you've probably heard about Alabama's struggles and, finally, recent triumph over close-minded officials who just don't "get it." (A quick link to Free the Hops will catch you up-to-date.)
The "Gourmet Beer" law in Alabama is one case in point. I present to you the first in a series of Beer Memes that I'll put before you occasionally over time.
First up: "yeah, What's Wrong with the Beer We Got? I mean the beer we got drank pretty good, don't it?" Courtesy of Representative Alvin Holmes (at 5:30 if you want to jump ahead):
